EASY Frilly Star Bonnet for BEGINNERS (all sizes)

Today's pattern is this super classy Star Bonnet. Don't be scared away by its looks, its a lot easier than you think, trust me! All you need to have are the basic skills (knit, yarn over, cast off and little more) and if you follow along to my free video tutorial (direct link here) you will have it completed in no time!

Let's get started:

Materials:
Yarn of your choice - I used 100% cotton.
3mm needles - circular or straight, whatever suits your preference.
Needle for sewing up.
Tape measure.
Scissors.

Get started:
Start by casting on 8 stitches (for all sizes, we follow this same guide).

Now start increasing your star:
Row 1. *k1, y.o* repeat 6 times, k1
Row 2. knit all sts
Row 3. *k2, y.o* k1
Row 4. knit all sts
Row 5. *k3, y.o* k1
Row 6. knit all sts
Row 7. *k4, y.o* k1
Row 8. knit all sts
Row 9. *k5, y.o* k1
Row 10. knit all sts
Row 11. *k6, y.o* k1
Row 12. knit all sts

Now we decrease the tips of the star:
Row 13. *k4, k2tog, y.o, k1, y.o* repeat until the end k1
Row 14. knit all sts
Row 15: *k3, k2tog, y.o, k3, y.o* k1
Row 16. knit all sts
Row 17. *k2, k2tog, yo, k5, y.o* k1
Row 18. knit all sts
Row 19: *k1, k2tog,y.o, k7, y.o* k1
Row 20: knit all sts
Row 21: *k2tog, y.o, k9, y.o* k1
Row 22. Cast off 11 stitches (FOR ALL SIZES).

Now we continue straight the amount of rows necessary to achieve the cm according to your size as explained in the video.

Meanwhile you knit upwards, it is time to put into consideration if you are adding any pattern to your bonnet as it is time to add it now!
If like me, you want to add a frill, continue as listed below.

Row 1 after you achieved the cm: *k1, y.o* repeat this until the end of the row in order to achieve the double amount of stitches on your needle.
Row 2. knit all stitches (y.o's through the back as explained in the video).
Row 3. *k2, y.o*
Row 4. repeat row 2
Row 5. knit all sts.
Row 6: knit all sts.
Row 7. cast off all sts.

Voila! You bonnet is complete, now it is time to put down the long needles and pick up your sewing up needle and put it all together!

Hope you enjoyed and you are happy with your finished project if you decided to knit it, be sure to send it me so I can see!
