Otillie Rue Dungarees 0-6 months

On the 29th of August 2021 the much awaited baby of Alfie Deyes and Zoe Sugg was born, Otillie Rue Deyes.

I have been a compulsive viewer of theirs ever since 2014 so the news on their baby had me over the moon! You may be wondering, what has all of this got to do with my knitting channel? Well, in todays post I am going to be showing you how to knit the Otillie Rue Dungarees, which I have knitted especially for little Ottie x

This pattern is made from Newborn all the way up to 9 months. It is a descriptive pattern but more essentially a list of sizes and stitches as it is a pattern very hard to explain without a visual, therefore I highly recommend you read this pattern alongside watching THIS video (CLICK HERE).

Once you have done these 8 rows and grown your work slightly outwards, we knit straight up 6 rows for all sizes.

Now it is time to create the toe area, this part is hard to explain so please watch the video HERE where you can see how I did it and explained it in a lot more detail.

Here is the list of where to place your markers according to your size:

New born: 18 - marker - 8 - marker - 18
1 to 3 months: 22 - marker - 10 - marker - 22

3 to 6 months: 23 - marker - 12 - marker - 23

6 to 9 months: 24 - marker - 14 - marker - 24

Once you have decreased the amount of times necessary and you have created the toe area of your dungarees as I explain in the video, you now have to cast on stitches at one side of the ankle and cast off stitches at the other side.

New born: 5 stitches
1 to 3 months: 6 stitches

3 to 6 months: 7 stitches

6 to 9 months: 8 stitches

Leg increases:
Now you have created the foot area on your dungas, it is now time to knit the legs before joining them together.

New born: knit 15cm high (from ankle),
1 to 3 months: knit 16cm high (from ankle), increasing 1sts at the beginning and 1 sts at the end of every 11th row, and knitting these through the back on the back of the work (every 12th row) as I explain in the video 6 times.

3 to 6 months: knit 18cm high (from ankle)
increasing 1sts at the beginning and 1 sts at the end of every 11th row, and knitting these through the back on the back of the work (every 9th row) as I explain in the video 5 times.
6 to 9 months: knit 23cm high (from ankle) increasing 1sts at the beginning and 1 sts at the end of every 11th row, and knitting these through the back on the back of the work (every 9th row) as I explain in the video 5 times.

REMEMBER: ALL THESE SIZES ARE APPROX.

Front:

We then join both our legs together at the front and cast on 6sts in the crotch area just as I do in the video and then knit the front of our dungas upwards the amount of cm according to size:

New born: 13 centimetres
1 to 3 months: 15
centimetres
3 to 6 months: 17,5
centimetres
6 to 9 months: 20 centimetres

Once we have achieved the height, we now need to decrease for the chest and armhole areas, for this we decrease at the beginning and end of every front row by knitting 10 stitches, knit 2tog, knit to last 12sts, k2tog, k10.

New born: decrease until 14 centimetres.
1 to 3 months:
decrease until 14 centimetres.
3 to 6 months:
decrease until 16 centimetres.
6 to 9 months: decrease until 16 centimetres.

Open buttonholes:
We now need to open buttonholes, 4 stitches from the beginning and 4 stitches from the end of our work like so:

K4, y.o, k2tog, continue knitting and decreasing, knit until last 6 stitches, k2tog, y.o, k4

Knit the next row all in garter stitch NOT twisting our y.o's to create a hole, and then knit 4 more rows.

Cast off:
Cast off on the front of the next row.

Pick up back of the work:
We now pick up the back of the work just the same as we did on the front and continue upwards exactly the same but without opening buttonholes and leaving straps.

Straps:
You can choose your straps to be as wide as you like, I am going to give mine 8 stitches wide during 14cm for 1-3 months, but for a bigger baby you may be better leaving 10sts of a strap.

And voila, another pattern done and dusted! I really hope you liked it, if you did please be sure to let me know and also if you were to make it, please send me it via Instagram! I love to see and share your patterns! xx
